Caen Dijon Preview

caen dijon preview

Really poor display by Caen last round away at Lille (lost 4-2). They managed to score twice, but only because opponents didn’t take them seriously. Lille dominated the entire game, and everyone knew from the start where the 3 points will go.

Coach Garande considered this game a lost fight, and decided to rest forwards Santini and Rodelin, and midfielder Delaplace. All three should be in the lineup this round.

Caen is one of the worst Ligue1 sides when it comes to away games. They won only 1 point in 8 away games, and it’s simply unexplainable how the home factor can have so much influence over a football team. They are warriors in home games, constantly harassing opponents, but away from home they look like a bunch of kids in the playground.

Dijon won an important point last week against Monaco, but the final result could have been even more favorable (finished 1-1). Coach Dall’Oglio wasn’t very optimistic about this encounter, and decided to leave important forwards Tavares and Diony on the bench.

Only when he realized that Monaco are tired, uninspired and bored, he introduced Diony and Tavares. It was enough to salvage a point, but too late for a historic win.

Coach Dall’Oglio often changes system, and this situation seem to confuse players and prevent them to achieve full potential. For example Dijon build mostly down the flanks with wingers Amalfitano and Sammaritano, but sometimes coach Dall’Oglio switches to 3 central midfielders and no winger, considerably reducing the attacking strength.

Guests may once again miss defenders Chafik and Varrault (doubtful).

Hosts have an upper hand here, but the advantage is not that big as odds suggest. Although they are yet to win away from home, Dijon can be very dangerous on counters, and this game can easily go either way.

UPDATE: Hosts welcome back important defender yahia, while guests can once again count on defenders Chafik and Varrault.
