Bordeaux – Nice Preview

The 1-1 draw away at Montpellier last round was a fair result. Bordeaux just can’t be consistent in efforts throughout 90 minutes and that’s why they are only somewhere around the middle of the table.

Central defender Henrique is better at scoring than defending lately (scored last round). He is very slow nowadays, unpredictable player, with consequences that can be devastating for the entire team.

Winger Faubert missed last round so Rolan took his place on the right wing. But Rolan was a bitter disappointment and could only make his presence felt when missing good opportunities or easily losing the ball.

Bordeaux could once again be without a couple of important players, keeper Carrasso, winger Faubert, central midfielder N’Guemo and striker Diabate, as there are no news at the moment regarding their condition.

In-spite playing without top-scorer Cvitanich, Nice didn’t struggled too much against Bastia last round (easily won 2-0). Especially impressive were the performances of fullback Kolodziejczak and winger Bosetti.

But the bad news for Nice is that central midfielder Abriel suffered and injury and will miss for a few rounds. The problem is that Traore and Digard (central midfielders as well) are also injured for some time already. Coach Puel doesn’t have many options available and there’s a high possibility we will see young Mendy (21 years old) alongside even younger Rafetraniaina (17 years old) in central midfielder for Nice.

Bordeaux aren’t exactly bursting with creativity, but against such a central midfield they shouldn’t have too much problems in controlling the game.

Nice will welcome back striker Cvitanich after suspension and central defender Pejcinovic after injury.

Bookies make Bordeaux big time favorites but the game will be far more balanced than the odds suggest (regardless Nice’s absences), especially given Bordeaux’s inability to be constant in efforts for 90 minutes.

UPDATE: Bordeaux can count on winger Faubert and midfielder Traore who are back after injury. Nice also welcome back 2 players, central midfielders Digard and Traore. The timing is great seeing that Abriel got injured.
