Bordeaux made a decent game last round away at Monaco in-spite missing a couple of important players.
Khazri, Saivet, Sane, Traore and Poko are away on international duty and Maurice Belay, Diabate and Ilori were out injured. With all those absences coach Sagnol was forced to improvise a bit and used fullback Mariano as a right winger and in central midfield started with 19 years old Kaabouni. Kaabouni was a bit hesitant, had a couple of failed interceptions and was substituted early in second half.
Fullback Mariano always had an excessive offensive appetite so he adapted instantly to the new position.
But Bordeaux created most of their chances on the left side where fullback Contento was the most active player and initiated many actions together with winger Rolan. Forward Traore was often the final destination for their passes but unfortunately they couldn’t find the net regardless the good movement.
Bordeaux will welcome back important winger Maurice – Belay while defender Ilori is still doubtful.
It’s been a while since Nice had such an impressive performance (won 3-1 against Lorient). It is true that opponents had some important absences but the improvement in Nice’s game was clearly visible. Until the winter break Nice used to create mostly by running wildly down the flanks and sending long balls inside the penalty. Now things have changed.
The offensive triangles Plea – Eduardo – Bosetti were a feast for the eyes of spectators. All three mentioned players are in extraordinary form and showed increased playing appetite. Bosetti scored a goal, Plea delivered an assist and play-maker Eduardo won a penalty, delivered an assist and scored a goal. The confidence in the attacking department sky rocketed after such a performance.
Unfortunately things aren’t the same in defense, where both central defenders Bodmer and Genevois were a bit slow and undecided.
Winger Eysseric is doubtful after he suffered an injury last round. But his place will be taken by Bosetti so every cloud has a silver lining.
Interesting encounter is foreseen with Nice in good offensive form and Bordeaux always dangerous in-spite their absences. Over 2.25 goals at 1.95
UPDATE: Nice’s central defender Bodmer is out due to injury.
