Bastia were surprisingly active last round away at Montpellier (won 2-0). Nobody really expected Bastia to be so determined especially since they sit exactly in the middle of the table.
Defenders appeared to be more vigilant than ever and all of this happened when regular central defender Squillaci was out suspended (he will return for this game).
Players involved in the offensive phase were also very lively, especially winger Khazri who initiated many actions and even managed to score.
Bastia is a home team, there shouldn’t be any doubt in that. With this being the final round players should find some extra motivation to repay the loyal fans who encouraged them throughout the entire season.
Although Nantes constantly tried to push the game forward they were outplayed by a more talented and organized St Etienne (lost 3-1). At one point it even appeared that Nantes cornered the opponent, but it was just an illusion as all of their attempts were soft and lost in intensity once they got closer to the goal.
Coach Der Zakarian is not that inspired as of late as he prefers to start with forward Shechter upfront. Shechter is slow, undecided and lacks many of the attributes needed to be a decent Ligue1 forward. Winger Gakpe could be a better solution and he even played as a lone striker for a couple of rounds, time in which Nantes looked more dangerous than ever.
Fans will constantly push Bastia to win their final game of the season. Hosts may leave a couple of open spaces in their attempt to find the net, but a detached Nantes with Shechter upfront may not be able to speculate. Bastia to win at 2.28.
UPDATE: Bastia will be without attacking players Khazri and Boudebouz. Nantes will also miss Veretout and Bedoya. Bastia’s absences are quite important, no bet in these conditions.
