Bastia were kind of fortunate to get away with a draw last round away at Lens (finished 1-1). Bastia had only 2 or 3 shots on target and managed to find the net only from the penalty spot.
The same happened in the midweek Cup game against Monaco when Bastia often came under pressure but thanks to excellent levels of organization they managed to win at penalties and qualify for the final.
New recruits midfielder Danic and forward Sio played their first game for the club and hopefully in time they will prove to be exactly what Bastia need for improving the offensive phase.
Young winger Ongenda made a comeback after injury last week and he is simply bursting with energy. Bastia are still deficient in the offensive phase but the combinations between Ongenda and Boudebouz can push the game forward and put opponents in difficulty.
In-spite getting a point Metz had a really disappointing performance last round against Nice (finished 0-0). They played in numerical superiority for about 20 minutes but couldn’t find any solution to approach the penalty box. Whenever they won a corner they were as happy as a kid on Christmas Eve.
For some unknown reasons Coach Cartier started to prefer young N’Sor for the striker position. It is true that Metz don’t exactly have decent alternatives available, but besides proper skills N’Sor also lacks experience, and if by any chance Metz manage to create a decent opportunity everything can be in vain with N’Sor upfront.
Guests will welcome back defender Milan after he was suspended last round.
Defensively Bastia shouldn’t have any problems against Metz who are crippled upfront. Bastia’s offensive potential is far from impressive but they compensate through high levels of organization. Bastia -0.5 at 2.17
UPDATE: Bastia will welcome back winger Ayite while Metz can count one again on the services of midfielders Kashi and forward Maiga. Same bet
