Bastia Marseille Preview

bastia marseille preview

Bastia are really happy with the way things are at the moment and most probably nothing will change in their tactics.

They don’t have European ambitions and each round simply wait for opponents to make their move. Bastia’s attacking strength is far from impressive, and this is another reason why they don’t adventure upfront too often.

Bastia are very organized at the back and have one of the best defenses in the tournament. It’s a really difficult task for all opponents to create open spaces and scoring chances.

Hosts will welcome back important central midfielders Mostefa and Cahuzac after suspension.

If in the beginning of the season Marseille were officially aiming for the title, now they’ll be happy with just finishing in the upper half of the table.

Marseille is by far the most disappointing team in Ligue1 this season. Key winger Alessandrini was injured for many rounds, but that is no excuse since they have such a valuable squad.

Forward Batshuayi is a really talented player, but he misses clear scoring opportunities with surprising ease, and that can be very frustrating for teammates. Central midfielders and fullbacks start to advance and try to make a difference on their own, forgetting the defensive tasks. The same happened last round against Rennes when opponents took advantage of every single mistake Marseille made (Rennes won 5-2).

Guests will welcome back midfielder Barrada after suspension.

Bastia will calmly set up their defensive wall, like they always do, and wait patiently for opponents to open up. If Marseille will once again neglect the defensive phase they risk losing all points.

UPDATE: Marseille will have to do without important defenders Mendy and Nkoulou
