Bastia – Guingamp Preview

Bastia Guingamp Preview

Guingamp training session

BASTIA:

Disappointing performance from Bastia last round away at Lorient. They scored early and focused fully on defending the lead for the rest of the game. This attitude was punished in extra time when opponents equalized and denied Bastia the 3 points (finished 1-1).

Although they play in a 4-3-3 system Bastia’s offensive phase has been a let down so far. Striker Brandao will once again be suspended, but it doesn’t make much of a difference since he is only a pale shadow of his former self.

Set pieces and long balls play a big role in Bastia’s game plan and midfielders are constantly looking for opportunities to win free kicks and corners.

Goalkeeper Leca is doubtful after he suffered an injury last week.

GUINGAMP:

Bad luck for Guingamp as they made two decent games but ended up with no points. Guingamp changed a lot in comparison to last season, mostly in the attacking phase, where they lost top goalscorers Beauvue and Mandanne.

The midfield is the same and they are still working hard to push the game forward but the problem is their current forwards may not have enough skills for competing in Ligue1. Benezet, Privat and Salibur are slow players and their ball control skills are only mediocre.

Guingamp may welcome back central midfielder Mathis after injury but there is no certainty in this moment.

BETTING:

It’s hard to predict how this game will play out but one thing is for sure, bookies once again made a mistake in compiling the odds. With both sides having problems in the offensive phase this can be one of the most boring games of the week and a fun bet on 0-0 correct score at 5.20is the way to go.

UPDATE: Fullback Palmieri recovered from injury and is available but Bastia will once again miss keeper Leca, defender Cioni and midifielder Diallo. Guests will have to do without forward Benezet and defender Jacobsen.

Bastia: Hansen, Vincensini – Palmieri, Djiku, Modesto, Squillaci, Marange, Peybernes, Jebbour – L.Coulibaly, Cahuzac, S.Fofana, Danic, Houri – A.Ba, Kamano, F.Ayité, Maboulo

Guingamp: Lössl, Samassa – Sorbon, Kerbrat, Baca, Angoua, Lévêque – Giresse, Mo.Diallo, Mathis, Sankharé, De Pauw, Dos Santos – Privat, Salibur, Briand, Bègue, Ma.Dembélé
