Bastia were very nervous last round away at Monaco and as a consequence they got 2 red cards and ended up losing at a forfeit score (3-0).
Of course Bastia didn’t had the power to reach opponents’ penalty box since they played in 10 for 40 minutes and in 9 for 20 minutes. Play-maker Boudebouz who is usually involved in most of Bastia’s actions was also out injured and his absence drastically reduced the offensive strength (most likely will miss this round as well).
But this result doesn’t change the fact that Bastia have one of the best levels of organization in Ligue1 with players always in alert and continuously covering for one another.
Hosts will miss midfielder Cahuzac, fullback Diakite and forward Sio due to suspension.
Guingamp made a smart game last round away at Nice and fully deserved to take all points (won 2-1).
Since Marveaux returned from injury coach Gourvennec stopped using Mandanne and Beauvue in the same time. These two are Guingamp’s best goal scorers and the overall attacking potential is reduced with one of them on the bench. This is a sad situation as the chemistry between Mandanne and Beauvue is at maximum levels and they are able to find each-other with eyes closed.
Guests will miss defender Angoua and winger Pied through suspension.
This is not exactly a promising encounter in terms of goal scoring opportunities. Teams will focus primarily on closing down all possible spaces and only then will allocate resources to opening up opponents.
UPDATE: Hosts will once again miss midfielder Boudebouz, forward Tallo and defenders Squillaci and Palmieri
