Especially in 2nd half Bastia were cornered last round away at Sochuax, and in the end they were lucky to get a draw (finished 1-1).
Bastia’s weakness is defending the flanks. On the left side there is fullback Palmieri who was often used as a winger due to his predilection for advancing a lot, and on the right side there is Diakite, a fringe player who can’t be trusted.
The offensive midfield with Krasic – Boudebouz – Khazri seems to be in form as it often finds solutions for activating lone striker Bruno.
Overall Bastia is a decent team but their performance depends a lot on opponents’ playing style.
Evian were trashed on home ground by Lorient last week (lost 4-0). Before defenders realized the game had started Evian already conceded twice. A red card followed and the game was compromised.
But nobody should judge Evian solely by that result. Evian is a tough team to play against, especially nowadays when fullback (or winger) Dja Djedje is back after injury. He was Evian’s best player before getting injured and played a key role in their strategy.
Left winger Ehret will miss this game after getting a red card last week. But believe it or not it may actually be a good thing as Wass can play as a left winger.
With Wass on the left wing and DjaDjedje on the right side I am confident Evian will create huge problems for Bastia’s fullbacks. This pressure created on the sides could eventually lead to at least one goal scored for Evian.
But the way their defense looks guests can easily be outscored in every single game…
Evian will welcome back striker Sougou after suspension to improve the offensive potential.
Bookies keep on giving huge odds for over 2.5 goals in Ligue1. For this game we have it a 2.17 which is an amazing price.
