Angers Marseille Preview

angers marseille preview

ANGERS

Angers had a really impressive performance, mainly in the defensive phase, in the midweek game away at Lille (finished 0-0). Opponents had major difficulties getting past central midfielders NDoye, Mangani and Bourillon, who focused exclusively on the defensive phase.

Angers successfully defended on three lines, and the last two were simply impenetrable.

Angers still have chances to qualify for Europa League, if they finish the season on the 6th place and PSG win Coupe de France. At the moment they are only 3 points away from the 6th place, and have a light schedule with accessible opponents in the final rounds (Bastia and Toulouse).

Hosts will once again miss defender Traore who is suspended.

MARSEILLE

Marseille changed coach recently, but unfortunately there is no improvement in their play. There was a change in formation last round, as Marseille started in a 4-2-2-2 formula, but it had no effects on their play.

Marseille is by far the most disappointing and underperforming team in the tournament. They are only 5 points above the relegation zone and most probably won’t be able to relax until the final round, when they play against Troyes.

This round it will even more difficult for Marseille, since both defensive midfielders will sit out. Diaby suffered an injury last week, while Romao is suspended. Marseille do have some valuable players on the bench, but most of them are offensive minded, especially since Isla and Diarra are also injured.

BETTING

Odds on Marseille are really surprising considering they haven’t won a Ligue1 game since February. Adding the problems with injuries and opponents’ good form, the value is definitely on Angers. ANGERS +0.25 at 1.97
