Angers Lyon Preview

ANGERS

Angers conceded very early last week away at Dijon and had difficulties getting back in the game. They got demoralized very quickly, and this allowed Dijon to take a 3 goals lead in the first half alone. In the final minutes Angers were pushing for the equalizer, but unfortunately it never came (Dijon won 3-2).

Angers got back on the right track in the midweek Cup game against Guingamp. They won 2-0 without many emotions, and qualified for the Coupe du France final.

Coach Moulin made a surprising move and left forward Toko Ekambi on the bench. The change came out of the blue, especially since Toko Ekambi was very active lately. He played only 10 minutes against Guingamp, but still managed to score. Most probably Toko Ekambi will be back in the lineup this round.

There are no surprises in Angers’ squad.

LYON

It may have seemed like a balanced game between Lyon and Monaco last round, but actually Lyon never had a chance. Monaco weren’t aggressive, but still managed to have a decent lead by half time (2-0 at halftime). In second half Monaco focused only on preserving energy and killing the game (won 2-1).

Lyon are very disappointing in performances lately, and if nothing changes, most probably they will lose the chance to qualify directly in Europa League next season.

Lyon’s fullbacks advance frequently and they are very vulnerable down the flanks. Central midfielders try to participate as much as possible in the defensive phase, but with the exception of Gonalons, most of them don’t have any defensive skills. Although they have plenty of valuable forwards, all of them seem to be in poor form and low on confidence.

Guests will once again miss topscorer Lacazette and defender Mammana.

BETTING

Winning at Angers is not an easy task, as a matter of fact only Monaco and PSG succeeded in 2017. Judging by how Lyon performed recently, they will be lucky to get a point from this game. ANGERS +0.25 at 2.17
