Angers – Bastia Preview

Angers Bastia Preview

ANGERS

Angers were very solid last week away at Marseille and there was no sign that they were the underdogs. Actually seeing Angers holding possession, pushing the game forward with ease and creating scoring opportunities was very surprising taking in account they were up against one of the best sides in Ligue1.

Upfront Angers were pragmatic and converted all their major opportunities and in defense they were very solid and opponents found the net only thanks to a penalty.

Furthermore Angers missed two of their best players, midfielder NDoye and forward Sunu. While there are no news regarding Sunu’s condition, NDoye will return to the lineup after fulfilling his suspension.

BASTIA

Once again Bastia won 3-0 after a poor performance and after being dominated by opponents (3-0 vs Toulouse). Just like in the game against Guingamp in the 3rd round (when they also won 3-0), Bastia were often cornered but keeper Leca made some excellent saves and was once again the man of the match.

Forward Brandao had another disappointing performance and everything he touched turned to ashes. In-fact most attacking players were disappointing, with the exception of winger Palmieri who is always active, infiltrates inside the penalty box and also tries his luck with long range attempts. Two of Bastia’s goals were scored by central defender Squillaci and that should say something about their attacking strength…

Winger Kamano will return to the lineup after suspension.

BETTING

The odds on Angers seem like a gift considering the way Bastia have been performing lately. We all know that football is not fair, but we simply can’t ignore a bet, when all factors are favorable, only because the other team gets lucky once in a while. Angers -0.5 at 2.16
