I kept on giving Ajaccio credit round after round until I finally understood: in this current formula they will need extra human efforts to avoid relegation…
For Ravanelli coaching at such a level is a first and he seems a bit overwhelmed with it. Although coach Ravanelli is an ex striker, Ajaccio’s offensive game is totally chaotic relying only on pinball football and long aerial balls.
The saddest part is that what was once the strongest department, the defense, is also suffering big time. Not being able to hold possession in midfield, to create dangerous actions, to build up play, leads only to continuous pressure on defenders.
The defense is far more unstable in comparison to last season. Even keeper Ochoa, whom I considered the best keeper in Ligue1, can be easily surprised nowadays. Ajaccio are going through rough times and only some reinforcements in the transfer window can ease their suffering.
Midfielder Goncalves will return after suspension but he won’t be able to compensate for the absence of versatile midfielder Lasne (suspended) who was useful both in the defensive and offensive phase. Central defender Dielna suffered a knock but according to latest reports he seems to be fit now.
At home Ajaccio can be savages sometimes, but like I previously said, their attacking style is chaotic and can’t do much harm.
Nantes are getting better and better with each round. Even if newly promoted in Ligue1, they fully deserve the current 5th place.
Djordjevic upfront is the undisputed leader of the team. His experience and talent allow him to take opponents by surprise no matter if he is constantly man marked.
On the wings Nantes have several options, but at the moment with Bessat being injured, Nicolita and Gakpe should once again be first choices. They exceed in speed, stamina and strength. Because of them Nantes could easily take Ajaccio by surprise, especially given Ajaccio’s savage attitude at home.
I personally love their central defense with Venezuelan Vizcarrondo and Senegalese Djilobodji in the center. Solid players, lucid and confident in interventions.
Ajaccio’s crippled offense won’t be able to find a way and penetrate Nantes’ defense. Only by chance (referee or set pieces) could Ajaccio find the net.
The Draw No Bet odds for Nantes are currently at 1.69 but I am pretty sure they will go down quite rapidly. If that happens you can still take Nantes -0.25.
