In an attempt to combat the offensive problems Ajaccio transferred in 20 years old Tallo from Roma. He played mostly in Serie B before arriving at Roma, but even so Ajaccio’s fans are delighted with the new signing, and he’s seen like some kind of Messiah… Only from this attitude of the fans we can understand how serious are Ajaccio’s offensive problems.
The defense looks decent, even if central defender Zubar is still injured, mainly because of keeper Ochoa that offers a high level of security. But a defense can only be solid when there’s no constant pressure, meaning when teammates are able to keep possession and build dangerous actions. This is not the case for Ajaccio, as upfront they are only active on the wings.
The center midfielders are too defensive and do not participate at creation, so the flanks are the only solution for building dangerous actions. But wingers Belghazouani and Diarra aren’t the most talented of players and possession is easily lost. Furthermore neither Belghazouani nor Diarra participates in the defensive phase, leaving plenty of space for opponents to play around on the wings.
On the other hand we have Evian that are improving with each and every round. Coach Dupraz found a new viable formula that just baffles opponents. They dominate the flanks and fullbacks constantly switch roles with wingers (Dja DjeDje with Wass and Sabaly with Ehret) assuring freshness at all times. Lyon were destroyed last round because of these constant changes between fullbacks and wingers, they didn’t knew what hit them…
Upfront Berigaud is in top form and can score from unimaginable positions with powerful and precise shots. And if by any chance he won’t find the target, there are always talented Sougou and Benezet on the bench ready to step in.
At the back, with Mongongu and Mensah in the central defense we have to admit that Evian doesn’t really have the most stable defense. But the constant help provided by experienced Sorlin and Ajaccio reduced firepower will make Evian look like a fortress…
Odds of 1.73 for Evian +0.25 surely deserve a bet with medium stakes.
