Ajaccio – Bordeaux Preview

It was a nice surprise to see Ajaccio starting with 2 forwards last week (lost 3-1 at Marseille). There are no doubts that Ajaccio will relegate at the end of the season so at least they will go down in style.

But for a couple of rounds already they are involved in high scoring games. Even if they played with just 1 striker and 5 defenders, for more than a month it’s real feast to see Ajaccio in action.

Defenders are slow and confused and quite funny at times so there’s never the question of Ajaccio keeping a clean sheet. The only one standing in front of opponents’ siege is talented keeper Ochoa. Last round again he made a couple of magnificent saves but he is only human and ended up conceding 3 goals.

Ajaccio should welcome back forward Oliech, defender Hengbart and midfielder Goncalves after injury. Most probably play-maker Cavalli will sit out again.

It is really a shame Bordeaux couldn’t win last round against Rennes (finished 2-2). Bordeaux was he better side, controlled the game, applied pressure and created decent chances. But in defense there are still moments of wandering (like it happened this entire season) and Bordeaux got equalized quickly after leading 2-0.

Central defender Henrique was out suspended and will return for this game but he won’t be much of an addition, as his skills diminished considerably this year.

Midfielders Sertic and Traore made a good game and they were very active in the offensive phase. They engaged in many dangerous actions with forwards and wingers. Thanks to their good form, winger Rolan even managed to score his first goal of the season.

From an attacking point of view Bordeaux look solid and are surely able to score a few against disorganized Ajaccio. But in the same time with hosts having nothing to lose they can take advantage of Bordeaux’s moments of defensive relaxation (moments that always occur). Over 2.25 at 1.95

UPDATE: Although Bordeaux’s central defender Henrique fulfilled his suspension he was left outside the squad. Good news for the over.
